Abstract

|
|
The synthesis of monovalent and bivalent ligand derivatives of norfloxacin was described. Norfloxacin was reacted with formic acid or acetic anhydride to yield monovalent ligand quinolone carboxyic acids. Schotten-Baumann reaction of norfloxacin with dicarboxylic acid chlorides gave bivalent ligand quinolone carboxyic acids. These carboxylic acids were treated with 3-bromophthalide or pivaloyloxymethyl chloride to give phthalidyl esters or pivaloyloxymethyl esters.
